Mayor proposes KEP to operate in Sissi

With 75% of the municipal community of Sissi-Vrachasi, now having moved to Sissi, the Mayor of Agios Nikolaos is recommending the creation of a new K.E.P. (Public Service Centre), in the village of Sissi.

Rather than making the decision on it’s own, the Council will ask the residents of these areas, to make the decision all together, when a meeting will be held on the subject, and for which, a written announcement will be made soon, in the local communities.

With the current number of full time residents in Sissi, it would be feasible to have a daily presence in a Public Service Centre in the village, using the same codes as for the central offices and thus providing a full service on a community level.

However, as he explained, the Mayor would like the decision to move the office from Vrachasi to Sissi, to be made by the all of the locals, as it is not an easy decision for the Council’s 5 member committee to take alone. It is a very sensitive subject for residents in the villages and their opinion should be considered, he proposed. He will be present in person at the meeting to explain in detail, the proposal of the Council.

He went on to say that there is a serious shortage of staff in all of the smaller units of the Municipality, especially with regard to the population registries, which are backed up with paperwork, as the two times a week attendance of the Council secretary, is in no way sufficient for the needs of the area, considering that we now live in an era of digital administration.
Finally, he highlighted that if the office is created in Sissi, the staff who will be appointed there, will also be responsibilities relating to the needs of the residents of Vrachasi.
