A three man team where involved in a serious industrial accident this afternoon, at the site of the biological sewerage plant in Almiros, Agios Nikolaos.
The men , who were working in a basket crane in an affort to replace a utility pole, appeared to have been electrocuted after making contact with a high volatage cable.
All three were taken urgently by ambulance, to hospital in Agios Nikolaos. Two were immediately admitted into intensive care due to the severity of their condition and the third man, who was not as seriously injured and had been able to walk into the emergency department, was treated by surgeons.
Shortly afterwards, it was announced by the hospital that the 40 year old man of Albanian nationality, whose condition was always deemed to be most critical, had died as a result of his injuries.
