Speaking today to Thanos Korobilias on Lato 103,3 “Pame Aera” and following his meeting in Athens with the Minister for Tourism Ms. Elena Koundoura, was Mr. George Pelekanakis, President of the Hotel Manager’s Association.
Mr. Pelekanakis has always been a pioneer on the issue of extending the tourist season in East Crete and the agenda of his meeting was based entirely around this subject and the strategies needed to make it happen.
He emphasised that finally the framework is being laid and along with the increased interest from Tour Operators, already, with reservations for 2017, we are slowly seeing the extension happen. All parties must be involved and co-operate fully in order to coordinate new initiatives.
The Tour Operators are asking for the product and want to include a longer season in Crete, so it is up to all of us to handle the issue correctly.
