The Social Services department at the TEI Crete revealed these figures, explaining that the system kicked in immediately once the situation became known and mental health teams sped to deal with the patients, who happen to be receiving their food supply from a programme being run by TEI (Technological Educational Institute) with European funding.
The social service and mental health workers met and discussed their experiences and ways to strengthen the support system in the future.
