40% extra beds for TUI Germany in 2017

A considerable additional number of beds in Crete, Rhodes and Kos, have been contracted by TUI Germany for the upcoming summer season.
Approximately 40% more beds will accommodate additional flight capacity, with new flights from Germany including flights from Berlin with the low-price airline, Easyjet.
This comes as part of a strategic plan for 2017 in Greece, by the Tour Operator aiming to double the amount of accommodation available. There will be 150,000 hotel units including many in more distant destinations, but with direct transportation routes for the option of independant travel.
They will also be adding 300,000 country residences.
Increases in available accommodation of 50% and 20% consecutively, will also be seen in the Italian and Spanish markets.
Prices will be held at current levels, except in Spain where there will be a 3% increase and in Turkey where there will be a reduction of 5% There will also be reductions on long haul.
The Director for the German market, Sebastian Ebel, stated that the Company hoped to reach a 25% share of the market in the next years. With a small increase this summer, TUI Germany has now reached a figure of 22.3%. Losses occurred, like with all Tour Operators in areas such as Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia but with gains to offset this, in the western Mediterranean, specifically in Spain, the Canary Islands, Italy and Greece.
