New 5 star hotel investments planned for Elounda

New investments by large companies and groups are on the drawing board for Crete, something which highlights the interest of businesses for the future of tourism on the Island.

In the Prefecture of Lasithi, one such example is that of the Spyros Ranis Group, who already have the 5 star Astir Odysseus Resort and Spa in Kos. The group has now decided to utilise a 42 acre seafront plot in Elounda, to create a new luxury hotel complex, with 1,200 beds.

According to reports by the newspaper “E”, there is also the intention for an additional concept of an observatory, to be added to the planning application, as long as the scheme goes through the necessary procedures without difficulty. The total investment is estimated at 50 million euros and the construction is expected to begin by the end of this year.

The same sources, say that another plan has just passed the stage of the environmental study, for a further investment on a 5.5 acre plot for a 5 star hotel with 176 beds and an out door amphitheatre, also in Elounda.

Finally, the Geniatakis Group who brought the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group to Crete for the first time last year, are planning the construction of a second complex in Lasithi.
