A 70 year old British national was involved in a serious quad bike accident last night, which occured on a pier near to the beach of Makrygialos. The area below where the man fell, from a height of approximately two metres, was rocky and it required the intervention of the Fire and Rescue Services to recover the badly injured tourist.
The man, according to reports, had been driving the quad bike whilst under the influence of alcohol, when the accident happened.
He was initially taken to the nearest hospital where the doctors took the decision, because of the severity of his condition, to transfer him to Heraklion, early this morning.
