Natural History Museum of Heraklion

For most people visiting Heraklion, especially for the first time, is normally about going to Knossos, the Archaeological Museum, maybe a stop off on the way there or on the way back at the Aquarium. Τhe town centre for shopping and something to eat or drink, is guaranteed.

But how many of us think about making a stop to have a look around the Natural History Museum, which can be found on the fully redesigned and pedestrian friendly seafront of the town?

It’s open 7 days a week:
Monday to Friday 09:00 until 15:00 and weekends 10:00 until 18:00.

Having seen a video on their website, I will definately be adding a stop into my programme, the next time I’m there, as it looks like an amazing place to get an insight into Crete’s other past (and present), through the eyes of the scientists and students of the University of Crete, who use collaborate with the Museum, as a showcase for their research and their work.

Have a look – the weekend’s with us, the weather’s perfect to start getting out and about even more……..check out the video: (It has english subtitles!)
