The mayor of Sitia, Theodoros Paterakis was in Stockholm for the International Tourist Fair and spoke about the efforts that have been made, and which have led to the opening up of the Scandinavian market towards Sitia, with the two charter flights which will very soon, start arriving into Sitia Airport.
In terms of the interest shown by Fraport in Sitia airport, the German Company that has already begun to take over fourteen other smaller Greek airports, he said that he would be completely open to take part in discussions with them. Their interest is to be expected, but I would insist, in any discussions, on a continued presence of the local Council, in the operation alongside and in cooperation with Fraport.
