Bill for water aerodromes stalls in Parliament again

Despite efforts to speed up the process of the issue of permits for water aerodromes and the long public consultations which ended on 9th September, the bill remains in a drawer at the Ministry for Infrastructure due to complications with legislation.
It is another setback in a venture which hopes to see a wide network of “seaplane ports” throughout Greece. The interest from foreign investors with regard to this venture is impressive, despite the fact that Greece is not able to offer a very solid business environment due to the current state of the economy.
Companies who are already active in this field are waiting for this final stage of the process and certain routes have already been secured but, without a full network of sea aerodromes, the venture is not viable. Discussions are being held between “Greek Aerodromes” with Japanese and German Companies which have experience in the construction and operation of similar aerodromes.
It is hoped by all parties involved that June of 2017 could see the start of the first flights, something that will enhance the tourism package available, and this new business activity will most certainly be a boost for investments and the Greek economy.
