Work accident at Chania airport

An employee for the company responsible for the refuelling of a Ryanair flight at Chania airport, was involved in a serious accident yesterday afternoon, (23/12/16).

The employee had finished refuelling the plane, which was due to take off for Athens, and was heading up the stairs to sign his paperwork with the flight crew, when for reasons still unknown, he slipped, fell and landed on the tarmac, headfirst. At the time of the accident it was rain heavily and very windy.

He was immediately taken to Chania hospital, in a state of shock, but still conscious. He was given and M.R.I and doctors found a small hematoma on his brain, just behind his ear and diagnosed the need for surgery.

The exact circumstances of the accident are being investigated.
