Based on a forecast by the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), for at least the next ten years, Greece will see constant growth in tourism, both in terms of contribution to the GNP, but also in terms of investments and employment in the sector.
In the study that was presented, there was comprehensive reference to last year’s tourist performance, with trends for 2017 and very positive estimates for the growth expected in the Industry, over the depth of the decade.
According to the report of the WTTC, by 2027, tourism activity will bring a total contribution of 23,8% to the GDP of the Country.
A similar pattern of growth is estimated to be seen in investments in tourism. Last year, investment reached 3.2 billion euros, which represents 15,7% of all investments for the year in Greece. Figures show that for 2017 there will be an additional 6,6% increase, followed by an average of 5,1% each year for the next ten years, reaching 5,5 billion euros = 17% of total investments.
