A 58 year old teacher from Northern Greece, who was on trial on Friday in the Courts of Heraklion, was found guilty of the charges made against him, for sexual obscenity against a total of 16 underage children, both boys and girls.
The court found him guilty in four out of sixteen of the incidents. In two cases, he was given 15 years in prison per child and in the case of two other children, 12 years imprisonment per child. The final term of 54 years will be combined to a final sentence of 25 years. The time in prison must be served, the judge decided and cannot be bought off.
The case was heard in a closed court, to protect the identities of the young children involved. The solicitors for the prosecution expressed their satisfaction with the verdict and the prison sentence imposed on the defendant.
