An(other) incident of unbelievable violence and abuse towards a defenseless puppy, has come to light in the village of Koutsouras, Ierapetra.
According to a facebook post, a man named Pavlos found the puppy hanging from a tree, where it had been tied, and with it’s paws just about, but only just about, touching the ground.
When he asked around if anyone knew anything about the dog, someone mentioned hearing a dog cry for about 3-4 days, but that they could never have imagined that it was because it was hanging in tree, being tortured….
After contacting the well known animal welfare volunteer, Takis Proestakis in Ierapetra, Pavlos took the sad animal to a vet who, on examining it discovered burns to it’s fur and skin and that the dog was suffering from severe shock, if not brain damage, which made it almost impossible to stand and caused it to move in circles, in one direction only.
The dog is now in the care of Takis’ shelter in Ierapetra and where, in order for the dog to be able to sleep, he had to be helped to lie down as he couldn’t on his own!
This incident is just one of many that have been recorded on Crete over time and leave one wondering why a fellow human being would lash out with such unbelievable madness against helpless creatures. Why do Cretans abuse them in such a tortuous way?
