Mini heatwave over next few days in Crete

According to the meteorologist, Manolis Lekkas, this coming weekend is expected to be very hot for the whole of Crete, with conditions being a little better on the south of the Island.
A high pressure onslaught from the south will see significantly high temperatures and with only a slight southerly wind, but one which will be enough to bring with it, a fair amount of dust from the Sahara. Great care must be taken in the countryside, to avoid the risk of fire, which will increase with the increase in winds in some areas.
A full and detailed analysis of the weather forecast for Crete in the next few days can be seen below:
Friday 12th May
Fair weather. Winds will be 3-4 Beaufort southerly and southeasterly. On the northern coast, winds will blow from a southwesterly direction.
Temperatures will range from 18C at the lowest, with the highest expected to be between 28C and 30C. Maximum on south coast 27C.
Saturday 13th May
Fair weather. Winds will again remain at 3-4 Beaufort from a southerly direction, with the exception of the area west of Chania, where winds will strengthen to 5 Beaufort for a time during the afternoon, possibly in places even reaching 6 B. From the evening hours, the winds are expected to become westerly, with a small drop in strength.
Temperatures will be at their highest today, starting at 22 C minimum and reaching 34C in the north, possibly even higher in places. Maximum temperatures in the south should not exceed 28 C.
Sunday 14th May
Fair weather with a little light cloud.
Winds will be westerly and from 3 to 4 Beaufort (locally in the west, in the afternoon, upto 5B).
Temperatures will again be high, but a little lower than on Saturday.
Next week will see the return of a northerly front which will give relief, and will see the reappearance of more normal springtime weather conditions. The atmosphere will clear again as stronger, northerly winds take the place of those of the weekend, from the south.
