Impressive design of new Kastelli airport

The pictures of the design, as published by neakriti.gr, of the new International Airport in Kastelli, Heraklion are very impressive.

A modern piece of architecture, with the latest infrastructure, will make the new project stand out amongst it’s rivals.

The second stage of the evaluation of the offer made by the Greek-Indian Conglomerate has been completed in record time, with the technical plans being approved without any comments.

It is always acknowledged by those within the syste, that the technical plans are the hardest to pass and can very simply stall the whole procedure.

The next phase will be the assessment of the financial aspect of the scheme, which is believed to possibly be signed by Easter as it is the quickest phase.

With the assessment committee now working as fast as it is, it is hoped that by May, that the project will be given provisionally to the Consortium which is called “Ariadne”, with the signature of the Minister being put to the plans, and thus making the Company legally responsible.

Once the Consortium put forward their financial package and the European Union give their final approval, the 220 million euro subsidy will be given to the Greek government, from the European Investment Bank.

Assuming that everything now goes to schedule, it is estimated that the construction process is likely to commence within a year from now.
