The scene today, next to the Geropotamo river, just a short distance from the bridge on the Tympaki-Kalamaki road, was not one you see very often and was certainly not pleasant!
The particular area had historically been a dumping ground for all kinds of rubbish, debris from greenhouses and building rubble, but according to e-messara.gr, the Council had cleaned up the area and fenced it off, to prevent further cases of illegal dumping.
Today however, the macabre scene of coffins being thrown in there was shocking!
How they got there, who dumped them, nobody knows…..
They are believed to be from the Tympaki graveyard, which is apparently in an ongoing tragic and unruly condition!
