Car stolen whilst owner worked in his fields

A resident of the town of Archalohori, Heraklion couldn’t believe his eyes yesterday, whilst he was cutting his olive trees in a field in the area, when suddenly, he lost sight of his car.

The incident took place at around 13.30 lunch time, when he was up in a tree, pruning. He had left his car 20-25 metres further away, on the edge of the field, with the keys in the ignition. The thief or thieves, managed to take the car without being seen or him realising anything, because of the noise from the chainsaw.

As he worked, he suddenly realised that his car, a silver Ford Ranger with number plates ANZ 3815, had just disappeared.

He was shocked and angry, as he told neakriti.gr that although he had left it so close to where he was working, the car and all it’s contents, could be stolen without his seeing or hearing anything.

He didn’t waste anytime and phoned the police immediately to report the theft, followed up by a visit to the station in Archalohori, to make a written statement.

It is starting to concern those living in the rural villages, the huge increase of the instance of thefts and they are now quite nervous, even to go to attend to work on their land.
