A young man of just nineteen years of age, is the latest life to be lost on the roads of Crete this year, after an accident in the area of Messaras.
The accident happened this morning (Sunday), at 7am and involved no other vehicle. The young man was driving his car when, at the junction of Kaparianon, on the road to Zaros, for unknown reasons, it left the road and hit a wall.
An ambulance was called and arrived very quickly, but despite the efforts of the emergency services to save the man, he died on his way to the Health Centre in Moires.
