All is well for woman injured in gorge

The 60 year old woman who fell and injured her head yesterday in the Ariadne Gorge, was successfully rescued later in the day, by a Fire and Rescue team from Anopolis, Chania.

Once the team were able to locate and examine the lady, she was carried by stretcher, to a safe place at Livaniana and from there by ambulance to Sfakia Medical Centre.

The Swiss woman had gone along with a group of visitors early in the morning, to walk through the gorge. Shortly after midday and whilst roughly half way through the route, at the point where a large ladder has been positioned, to allow walkers to climb down from a large rock, the woman fell and was injured on the head and the chest.

The response was immediate from the Fire and Rescue Services from both Anopolis and Vrisses, who quickly reached the woman and attended to her rescue and safe transfer for medical attention.
