Teacher dies on school excursion in Crete

An educational excursion on Crete, for students from an upper school in Naoussa, ended in tragedy today, when one of the teachers who was travelling with the group, became ill and died on the coach.

The return journey for the excursion had started this morning from Chania, when they set out for Heraklion, but as the coach approached Kalyves on the National Highway, the teacher began to feel ill and lost consciousness.

An ambulance was called from the station at Georgioupolis as well as a doctor from Chania, but despite the efforts made by all involved, the 59 year old teacher died at the scene.
