One survivor from military helicopter crash

The Minister of Defense, Panos Kammenos, has announced a three period of mourning for the Greek Armed Services, after the crash of a military helicopter today, in which four officers were killed.

The Huey helicopter went down at 07.50 this morning in a rural area near Elassona, quite close to houses in the village of Sarandaporo and on it’s way down, hit an electricity cable.

Rescue teams who arrived first at the scene, found one female officer, Vassiliki Plexida, alive, but seriously injured and she was immediately transferred by another helicopter, to the 424 Military Hospital in Thessaloniki.

The other four passengers and crew were declared dead at the scene. One is reported to be from Rethymnon.
