In an interview on Radio Kriti today, the head of the body (EYDE BOAK), that oversees work which is carried out on the National Highway, Mr. Georgos Agapakis, informed the public that the initial date given, of 8th April, for the reopening of the section of the road between Hersonissos and Gournes, has been postponed.
Due to the heavy rain of late and weather conditions in general, the delays in the works mean that the new time scale being given, is for the after Easter, at the end of April.
Asked if some kind of temporary measure could be made for the period of Easter, when the Island is expected to see large numbers of visitors, Mr. Vardakis said that he is looking into options, but emphasised that his main concern is that the road is completed properly.
