Locals share their ideas, but is anyone listening?

Kostas Zivas wrote an opinion article which he sent to our page a few days ago and it was shared by over 250 people, with over 8,500 visitors (to the greek page), reading his opinion. If you remember, on our English page, it was entitled, “Agios Nikolaos, the place that is all bla, bla, bla”.

The fact that so many people shared his words, can only mean only one thing – that they could relate to what he was saying!

They worry about the tourist product that we have to offer and see an unsure future for the area. Otherwise, why would so many people share and/or take the time to read that article?

We saw it yesterday too, with the article and photographs about the magical Easter celebrations in Agios Nikolaos.
I have been writing about tourism for ten years, not from a political viewpoint, but purely from my serious concerns for our future.

I really believe that if we all put pressure on the Council, something positive, could come out of it.
In that way, Easter, the new, fresh and dynamic organisations for the SUP championships and the cliff diving events, along with all the other events that take place here, plus our natural and historic riches, can all go under one big umbrella, which will magnify and multiply our presence in the marketplace, to promote and to advertise the area.

With a website and an account on all the big social media networks, with an office which will have a healthy advertising budget and whose sole responsibility, will be to publicise the area in the tourism market.

And that way, the message will get out everywhere and the area could regain the buzz and heart beat of the 80’s and 90’s, that we all remember so well.
