Impressive 3D video depicting Knossos during Minoan era

A video, which gives a short, but impressive 3D tour, depicting the Palace of Knossos during the Minoan era, is now available online.

The users of the site can see the Palace of Knossos as it was 10,000 years ago and admire
the magnificent frescoes and the imposing multi-storey buildings.

Apart from the video, the subject of the inclusion of the Minoan civilization and of Spinalonga on the list of UNESCO world cultural heritage sites, was put forward at an international meeting of the UNESCO Contracts Committee which was held in Crete, with the participation of 35 delegates from 18 countries, from the five continents of Asia, Europe, Africa , North and South America.

The subject of the discussion with the Committee was the protection of all objects of cultural significance from the hands of antiquity dealers, whilst the members of the Committee, were given a tour of the Archeological Museum in Heraklion. A video which had been made by local archeologists was the shown, and in which, the proposed for inclusion in the UNESCO catalogues, Minoan Palaces, Knossos, Phaistos, Zakros, Malia, Kydonia and Zominthou were featured, along with a second video of Spinalonga and it’s history.
The meeting was headed by the President for the Region of Crete, Stavros Arnaoutakis and the Mayor of Heraklion, Mr. Vasilis Lambrinos, who is President of the Mayors of Crete.
