The Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, has issued a decision, which clears the way for an international tender for the design, construction, financing, utilisation, maintenance and operation of a new northern road axis section, Chania – Heraklion.
The Minister, Mr. Nikos Spirtzis with his relative decision, has clearly defined the roles of the two parties involved – The Ministry and the Organisation for the Development of the Region of Crete (OAK) – and the contract they will sign.
In the decision, the Minister acknowledges the requests of the OAK and has instructed the Infrastructure Planning Division to draft and execute the contract for the programme.
Essentially this is the green light on a project for which Crete has been in so much need of, for many years.
