Greek football team AEK want to adopt dog painted by hooligans

After expressing their outrage at the cruel act by mindless supporters, of spray painting a stray dog with the colours of the team, the staff and players of AEK, set about finding the dog and via their official page on social media, declared their wish to take care of it.

The totally cruel and irresponsible act of spraying the initials of the team with yellow paint, on the fur on the dog’s back and across his snout, activated followers and the team, online.

The Club, in an announcement on social media, expressed their anger at the incident and announced their willingness to take care of the dog and if possible, to adopt it. Many who live in the area around the stadium took it upon themselves immediately, to look for the stray, after the first pictures appeared on social media and eventually, it was found and taken in by a girl, who is now looking after it.

A representative of the Club contacted the girl and made it known that they would like to adopt the stray or at least to help in any way they can. However it seems that the girl herself has decided to keep the dog, who in her hands, it seems, will be well taken care of.

Everyone who saw the picture of the poor dog on social media reacted with anger at the totally shameful actions of those responsible. When it was eventually found, in the neighbourhood of Arkadia, roaming around alone, afraid and with the marks of it’s abusers on it’s body, thankfully social media worked in it’s favour.

AEK football club officials stated: “such cannibalistic actions are not consistent with the ethos and culture of our fans.”
