Dynamite thrown into building in Heraklion

The centre of Heraklion is in a state of alarm this morning, after a large quantity of dynamite was found in a building near to the Theotokopoulou Park in the heart of the City.

Reports suggest that a window was broken and the 920 gr. package of dynamite was thrown inside the building, a cafeteria under going renovation.

Fortunately, there was no explosion and the authorities immediately attended the scene and collected the explosives.

The Police revealed that with the quantity of dynamite used in the attack, if an explosion had occurred it would have had a dramatic effect on the area around the building.
