Crete not on map for hydroplane ports

A decision by the Army General Staff, has approved the go ahead for 25 hydroplane ports.

The office of the Deputy Minister for Mercantile Marine and Aegean Sea, Nectarios Santorinios, announced that the permits will be given for the creation of ports on the Islands of Astypalaia, Mykonos, Leros, Lipsi, Rhodes, Kos, Tilos, Halki, Kastelorizo, Karpathos, Kos, Nisyros, Kalymnos, Symi, Syros, Milos, Thira, Paros, Naxos, Kythnos, Kea, Amorgos, Andros, Sikinos and Agathonisi.

The Ministry has been following the developments on the subject of hydroplane ports very closely, and has been taking part in meetings and work groups, along with the Ministry for Infrastructure and Transport, whilst keeping the local bodies involved, up to date on progress, because all those involved believe that this alternative transport option is of vital importance, to the communities of the Islands concerned.
