The communities of Neapolis and Latsida were devastated today to hear of the loss of nine year old Manos Georgakakis. Manos was being treated in the Intensive Care Unit of the Elpis Hospital in Athens, but on Monday night he lost his long, hard battle with cancer.
The staff and pupils of the school that Manos attended, sent a statement to the press expressing their condolences to the family, stating that they will hold one minutes silence at the start of the school day today and, along with representatives of the school attending the funeral, they will make a monetary donation to the “Society of Parents and Friends of Children with Cancer, Iliaktida”, in memory of Manos.
An event at the High School in Neapolis, which was planned for this weekend has also been cancelled, as a sign of respect.
