Following the publication of the advertisement by the responsible Authority “Growth Crete – Lasithi”, concerning the search for accommodation, in which refugees will be housed in the Agios Nikolaos area, the Mayor, Mr. Antonis Zervos made the following statement:
We have been notified of the publication of the advertisement and hope that again in this case, that we will be allocated the necessary funding, in order that the community will not be unduly burdened.
We will be extremely careful and follow the process closely, in cooperation with “Growth Lasithi”, in the hope of avoiding issues which are likely to arise.
The Council Committee has already been working to this end and so I am confident that all will go well!
We await the results from the advertisement, bearing in mind that the Council has previously made announcements regarding this specific need, but without there having been a particularly significant response. Possibly now, that the terms and conditions of the arrangement have been clarified completely, there will be more interest in that direction.
