The concern and suspicion of local shopkeepers were raised on Sunday morning by a young man who was asking for change for 50 euro notes, or making small purchases and using the same notes to generate change.
The young man, thought to be a gypsy, was talking constantly on his mobile phone and was even wandering into cafeterias and asking customers to change his notes for him.
Suspicions were raised especially, because of the large packet of 50 euro notes in the young man’s possession. The Police were informed and are currently investing his whereabouts.
A spokesman for the Police locally suggested that at this time of year in particular, people should be more cautious and not trust anyone unknown to them.
