Once again this year, the much awaited event, “Stand Up Paddleboarding Agios Nikolaos On SUP 2017”, has been completed with great success.
The organisers were, DAEAN, The Cultural and Athletic Association of Agios Nikolaos, the Hellenic Surf and Sup Association and the Yachting Club of Agios Nikolaos.
This event in Agios Nikolaos, was the first stop of the Greek Championship held by the Hellenic Surf and Sup Association and of the European “Eurotour 2017”.
The event always aimed to be a fundraising opportunity, with the money raised from the those participating on a “pay to enter” basis, being donated to the organisation, “Friends of Paidopolis Neapolis” to strengthen their voluntary work for children, but also to the Municipal “Social Supermarket” in Agios Nikolaos, for the purchase of good needed by local families, experiencing financial difficulties in their day to day existence.
The amount which was raised, came to 2,400 euros and it will go, in full to the excellent causes for which it was planned.
The event brought help to two important causes in our area and tremendous entertainment to all who watched it. For that we must thank the organisers and most importantly, the 116 athletes who took part and who travelled from wide and far to compete, including, from Cyprus, Italy, Spain, Germany, France, Holland and New Zealand, as well as from Greece!
