The pictures taken after the passage of a tornado at around midday today, in Tympaki, Heraklion, are really quite shocking.
In some cases, the damage caused by the “attack”, to the polytunnels, is complete.
After years of hard work and financial investments, the livelihoods of those affected, were torn apart in the few seconds that the tornado lasted. The only fortunate thing to report, is that no one was inside the tunnels at the time and therefore there were no injuries.
Some of the growers are already trying to do temporary repairs, with the help of friends and family, in an attempt to salvage what they can of their property.
