The Fire and Rescue Services of Agios Nikolaos, were at the ready to help with an unusual rescue operation, yesterday Saturday in Mardati.
A sheep and her lamb had been trapped since Friday, on a steep ridge on the mountainside above Mardati. The farmer tried to get her back to the rest of the flock with his whistles, but she didn’t respond to his call, as she seemed unable to get down, or go back up.
The Fire and Rescue Services responded immediately to the plea for help and using it’s specialist equipment with ropes and pulleys, managed to rescue the mother sheep and her baby lamb.
Once again, the men and women of the local Emergency Services showed that they have a truly compassionate side and had no qualms to assist, in such a rescue operation.
