Psiloritis photograph taken from………Santorini!!

In the last few days, a photograph by a professor by the name of Filaretos Dimiglos, which shows the snow covered peaks of Psiloritis mountain, standing clearly in the background of the picture which was taken in a village on Santorini, has been doing the rounds on internet.
The capturing of such a rare phenomenon has impressed tens of thousands of users that have seen it on social media, but has also created a camp which suggests that it is not a genuine photograph, but that it has been subjected to treatment such as “photoshop”. Conspiracy theories were quickly being spread by people who suddenly became meteorologists, geologists, graphic designers, etc. etc. but in general, specialists who wanted to dispute the picture as a fraud, as a fake.

The reply to all the doubters of the authenticity of the shot, (which was even reposted by the well known Cretan amateur meteorology site, meteo.gr), came from the professor himself, on his own facebook page.
He responded to the comments with a full explanation as to how the photograph came about:
It was taken, he said in the village of Pyrgos, on Santorini, with a friends mobile phone, as his own wasn’t good enough in its definition and that the phenomenon lasted for three days due to the brilliantly clear atmospheric conditions.
Hard to believe, but true!
