Another incident involving the shooting of dogs, this time involving a priest, has come to light in the village of Ovrias in Patra. According to complaints, the priest shot and killed two dogs, in front of small children, who happened to be playing close by, at the time.
The case came to light after animal welfare group volunteers, made an official complaint to the police, who then proceeded to arrest the priest and press charges for the alleged offense.
According to sources, when the clergyman became aware of the involvement of the police, he put the dead dogs into two sacks and took them in his car, to dump them in an unknown location.
A national television channel stated today, that at his appearance in court, the priest is said to have claimed to have been in church at the time of the incident, and as such, is innocent.
