A twenty seven year old local man was arrested yesterday evening 8/3/17, in Hersonissos, for crimes relating to illegal possession of firearms and explosives.
As part of an organised programme of action, in the fight against the illegal possession of firearms, a search took place by the Prevention and Crime Control Team, of the Police Division, Heraklion, at the property where the 27 year old was living.
During the search, the following items were found and confiscated:
A military rifle
A submachine gun (Scorpion)
A pistol
2 revolvers
A shotgun
19 magazines for different weapons
1,282 bullets of different diameters
Home made explosive device of unknown substance
The preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Hersonissos Police Department and the 27 year old, as charged, will go before the Public Prosecutor in the Courts of Heraklion.
