Sunday 27th November will see members and friends of the Agios Nikolaos Hiking Society take a coach into the Heart of the Prefecture of Heraklion, to the villages of Embaros and Viannos.
The route for the walk will begin from Embaros which is situated under the shadow of Mount Psiloritis and is built at a height of 430m. Following agricultural roads and footpaths, passing the settlement of Milliarados, we will be climbing to a height of approximately 1100m. At this point, where there are spectacular views of the surrounding areas, we will then take a downward course passing through Loutraki and arriving finally in Viannos, which is the birthplace of the famous writer Ioannis Kondilakis .
