Unbelievable!
A British couple were in the Old Town of Rhodes in a taverna, in the belief that they could eat and drink whatever they wanted, without paying, because……they had booked an all-inclusive holiday package!!
The owner of the taverna, told the newsite Dimokratiki about the unbelievable incident and pointed out that the middle aged couple ate and drank and even congratulated the waiter, for the very good quality of food and the service….and then got up to leave without paying!!
They said their goodbyes and as they were seen to be leaving rather than going to the desk to pay, the owner gently reminded them of their failure to clear the bill. The couple showed him their coloured bracelets from the hotel, saying that they had paid for all-inclusive, and truly believing that this would give them free food and drinks, all over the island!!!!!
The owner explained politely that this arrangemnet was only applicable within their hotel complex, they were forced to put their hand in their pocket and pay, much to their disappointment!
The owner commented that a similar incident had taken place at the beginning of last season, where customers had the same understanding of the all-inclusive holiday that they had booked.
As in all areas, where “all-inclusive” packages have become the “norm” in hotels, the effect on local businesses had been devastating, with turnover taking a nose dive and in some cases, businesses being forced to close.
