There seems to be no end to the reports of thefts taking place on a daily basis in Heraklion; some bigger, some smaller, but something which is causing great concern and upset in the area.
The expression “you never know where the threat may come from”, fits perfectly to describe the incident that took place on Friday afternoon, involving a woman who was doing her shopping in a large supermarket.
At the checkout desk, she put her bags down on the floor to turn and take her change and the receipt. Those few seconds were enough it seems, for a very light fingered thief to take advantage of the crowds, to take the bags and disappear unnoticed, like a gentleman!!
The woman of course, couldn’t believe that in such a tiny space of time, when she had left her shopping unattended, that this could happen. The police are reviewing the footage on the security cameras that the shop had, in order to identify the culprit.
