Serious industrial accident in Heraklion

An industrial accident set off alarms bells for emergency services in Heraklion today, just after 12:30 midday.
According to information published by cretapost.gr, a 40 year old man of non-Greek nationality, who was working on a building site in the Chanioporta area of the city, fell from a height of approximately 3,5 metres.
Other workmen on site called for an ambulance, which arrived very quickly.
The President of the Workers Centre of Heraklion, Mr. Stelios Vorgias, told cretapost that the 40 year old man has suffered serious head injuries and is being treated at the University Hospital of Heraklion.
Mr. Vorgias, along with the technical department of the Labour Inspector’s office, have already carried out an initial autopsy of the site, where the accident occurred.
