The section of the Northern National Highway of Crete (BOAK), between Gournes and Hersonissos, will be given back, into use for the circulation of traffic, starting at 12 midday tomorrow, 26/04/2017.
Initially, the movement of traffic will be with one lane in each direction, in accordance with an earlier agreement, with the Police Headquarters in Heraklion.
In addition, and for approximately the first week of re-opening, the junction of the road at Gournes and in the direction towards Agios Nikolaos, will not be open.
A similar temporary closure will exist for traffic from Agios Nikolaos towards Gournes and Kokkini Hani, which will mean that traffic with a destination for these villages, will still need to use the old road, at the junction of Kastelli.
Drivers are asked to take extra care on these two sections of road, where work will still be in progress and to strictly follow all signage, both on the road surface and along side.
