The death of a sixteen year old girl in Athens has shocked the residents of the southern suburbs where she lived. The young girl was found dead, hanging by a scarf tied around her neck, inside the wardrobe of her bedroom.
According to safe sources, the schoolgirl had a private lesson scheduled at her home at 3 o’clock in the afternoon. Her teacher turned up as normal, but the 16 year old didn’t answered the door.
She was later found by her mother who immediately called the police, who are now investigating the case.
The detail of the case that have caused shock in the community, is that according to the circle of friends that the teenager was in, an online game which has become “fashionable” recently, encourages the players to tie a rope around their throats, until they start to feel dizzy.
For that reason, the authorities have confiscated the girl’s personal computer to establish if the tragic event is related to this online craze or if it was suicide.
Friends say that she was a very happy person, who appeared to be without any obvious problems in her family or social environment. She had in fact just returned from a trip abroad and was in very high spirits since returning.
