Seasonal flights start arriving into Chania airport

A flight of the airline “Norwegian” was the first to open the new season for Chania airport today, as it came in for the first time for 2017, from London.

The first plane landed at 06:20 and a second plane of the same Company was scheduled to land at 10:00 having flown from Helsinki.

Easyjet start their summer programme tonight, with a flight from London also expected.

And on Monday, it’s Ryanair’s turn to start flooding the island with this year’s earliest arrivals, with flights arriving in the morning to the “Daskalogiannakis” airport from Bize – Norway, Milan – Italy and Eindhoven – Holland.

If the roads to and from Sitia had been give the investment they deserved, and the airport in the town seen as a serious tool for growth for tourism in the east of Crete, Lasithi would perhaps not be licking it’s wound as it is, all the more these days…….
