Seamen’s strike extension called off

As of midnight tonight, Friday, ferry boats will resume normal service, with passengers being advised to contact the Port Authorities and travel agents for information of amended timetables.
The National Seamen’s Union (PNO) made an announcement thanking all the crews for their participation in the strike action and asked for the appropriate Ministries to give them clear answers, on the issues concerning those employed in this important sector of the Greek economy.
The announcement pointed out that statements made by both the Minister for Shipping and the deputy Minister for Employment have gone some way to ease workers initial concerns, but are not in any way a longterm solution to the demands of the members of the Union.
A warning was issued that if there was no substantial solution brought to the table, there would be an increase in strike activity in the Industry.
