Prison terms and fine for drunken quad bike drivers

The head of the Traffic Police Department in Agios Nikolaos, Petros Zervakis spoke to fonien.gr and Thanos Korobilias, to explain in full, the events that led to the arrest of two Belgian tourists in the town on Tuesday evening at around 9pm.
The two men were part of a group of tourists driving quad bikes, but following a crash near the Shell petrol station and a disturbance caused by erratic driving near the roundabout in the hospital side, entrance to the town, residents called in complaints and the police began an operation to find and arrest the drivers.
Both men, when tested, were found to have levels of alcohol in their blood, above the legal limit and as such were taken before the Public Prosecutor in Neapolis immediately, were one was found guilty and received a 12 month prison sentence and a 3,000 euro fine, whilst the second man who was also found guilty, received a four month prison term.
