Marios and his 63 dogs need urgent help!!

Marios is a very kind hearted volunteer, who looks after the 63 dogs now in the “care” of the Council Shelter in Agios Nikolaos.

Marios is not a full-time animal welfare worker because he needs to work elsewhere to feed his family and children. He gives his free time to help the dogs in anyway that he can, and takes only donations of food and medicines, not money, because the shelter is not his to fund, only to voluntarily help at.

His car – a pick-up type car, broke down this week and he couldn’t get it repaired immediately. He has hired another car, which is not suitable for transporting water of large amounts of cargo. He wouldn’t have rented a car if he didn’t have the responsibility of caring for the dogs each day and now he has that added cost on top of the expense of fixing his own vehicle.

The Council knows of his difficulties – he has told them very clearly that he needs at least, help with moving water for the 63 four-legged friends in the shelter, but despite their promises, today, the third day of his new struggle, no council vehicle or help has appeared, except for two rusty drums, lined with black plastic refuse bags!!!!

He is trying to improvise with his own methods and with smaller drums and containers, but he is struggling and he worries about the needs of the dogs, which as he said, would possibly now be dead if he personally hadn’t gone out on a limb by renting a car, at his own expense – an expense that he cannot afford!

If you can help at all, in any way, please contact us and we will get in touch with Marios, or if you can speak Greek, then call him directly on 6938755283.
