Cruise ship passenger in critical condition rushed to hospital

According to a report on the media site neakriti.gr, a British national who was a passenger onboard the cruise ship NORWEGIAN SPIRIT, which was in Heraklion Port today, was transferred urgently to the University Hospital after being taken seriously ill.
An ambulance, with a doctor in the team, went onto the ship to attend to the patient and ensure his speedy transfer to hospital. Early indications are that the 63 year old man was suffering from an abdominal aneurysm.
Due to the severity of the patient’s condition, he was intubated on the ship, before he was taken to the emergency department of the hospital, accompanied by his wife, in the ambulance.
The cruise ship with 2000 passengers and 900 crew arrived at lunchtime in Heraklion from the Italian port of Siddaganga and continued it’s planned journey, leaving later in the evening, when it departed for Rhodes, without the two particular passengers.
It is hoped by all that the problem with the health of the British tourist will have a positive outcome, whilst once again, in practice it has been seen how hospitable Heraklion is and how at any time it will stand by the needs of it’s foreign visitors, even or especially, under the most difficult circumstances.
