Reading a post on social media this morning, it was not possible to just let it pass and not make the news more widely known!!
Some of you may remember having seen a plea on facebook and the search for a lost, or possibly stolen dog, which was also reported in ekriti (19/05).
What was so special about this dog? He belonged to an 8 year old girl with autism, who since being given the dog 9 months ago, had achieved a huge improvement in her social and communication skills!
The one year old pincher by the name of Boubis, disappeared when the girl was taking it for a walk in Malia and the parents feared that he had been taken, as the collar and lead remained, but 8 year old Krispa, who cannot speak, couldn’t explain to anyone exactly what had happened. Whenever she was with the dog she was so happy, but since losing him, she had fallen into a very sad state, refusing to communicate with anyone. The dog had a microchip in it’s ear.
The great news today, is that Boubis has been found safe and sound in Malia!!
Thanks to a post in the Local Strays Helpline page, with a photo of the dog being added by the people who had found him, friends of his owners recognised Boubis, and it will not be long before he and Kritsa are reunited once again!!
The miracle of animal welfare workers efforts and social media happens again!!
